Party Time!
What a fun-filled weekend! Friday night we put the girls down at Lanie and Pop's so that we could have a night on the town. Then Saturday morning we picked the girls up so we could celebrate our friend Will's 3rd birthday at Deep South Cheer. The girl's first trip to a gym! They were right at home, of course :) They crawled, played, and met new friends. Saturday we had pictures with Jeanelle and our sneak pic is amazing! I don't know how she does it - by the end of the shoot Taylor and I were worn OUT. I don't know how she manages to capture the moments she does in the middle of chaos. Can't wait to see all of them!

Water Park
Today all the guys from my office were out playing golf so I snuck away myself and took a long lunch with the girls and Nana and Papa. We went to Rusty's and Kennedy waved at everyone and watched them eat while MM tried to chew on everything in sight and threw toy after toy on the ground. ha! We went down to the riverfront park afterwards. It was HOT so the fountains were really refreshing. Kennedy didn't even like the water splashing on her feet at first. But, after we stripped them off and let them get down and crawl they both really warmed up and had a blast. MM has no fear!! She crawled right under the fountains! What a great way to spend a Friday.

Miss Microphone
Our new toy has a microphone on it. I don't think they've figured out that they are the ones making the noise!

Desires of Your Heart
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
"Creator of the dreams I've yet to know..." Point of Grace lyrics
It's amazing how the Lord works! This fall I have been asked to teach a Cyber Security class at Tougaloo College as a partnership between Tougaloo and ERDC (my workplace). Two mornings a week I will teach class and then ERDC has agreed to let me work from home on those days. Yes - HOME!! I really enjoy my career - I've spent the first 30 years of my life concentrating on my education and my career development. I have a lot of myself wrapped up in that part of my life. But, the true desires of my heart are fully wrapped up in my children and family. This opportunity gives me two more days to spend more time looking at my beautiful girls' faces and watching them grow. The Lord can work so unexpectedly! A month or so ago I was asked to give a presentation at the last minute to the President of Tougaloo and some of her entourage while they visited ERDC. After that presentation, Tougaloo requested that I teach this class as the beginning of a partnership. This will benefit my marriage - maybe since I'll be at home to look at my shoes on the living room floor I might be able to pick them up before my husband gets home...and maybe run a load of laundry or two while I'm emailing. This will benefit my career - I'm adding a whole new area of experience to my resume. But this will definitely benefit my spirit - how can being around my girls more do anything but put the rest of the world in perspective? Don't get me wrong - I know trying to work and chase twin girls around won't be easy! Thank goodness for friends and family that I can lean on for help. Thank you Lord for finding ways to grant the desires of our heart that we thought weren't possible!

8 Months Old
The girls are 8 months old today! Seriously - where does the time go? It's amazing how once you start getting a decent amount of sleep again it seems like time just starts slipping away from you. Not that I'm asking to go back to that sleep-deprived stage! The girls just AMAZE me with everything that they have learned this past month. In one month they have learned to sit up by themselves, crawl, and pull up to standing. They pretty much stand up by themselves as long as they can prop an elbow or hold on to something. They've learned to sit gracefully from standing, too.
They are sleeping from 7:30 pm to around 6 am. Of course - not on the weekends! MM got up at 4:30 Saturday morning - does she know it's our day to sleep in - or does she just know I'll cave and let her snuggle with me in the big bed on Saturday mornings? MM also does not nap - she absolutely detests sleep. She will throw an all out fit before finally giving in to sleep. Kennedy on the other hand is a sleep lover. The child wakes up and 5 minutes later is ready to sleep again.
Kennedy is doing much better at trying new foods - not just yellow vegetables for her anymore. Both girls pretty much will eat anything except for peas - even meats. Well - not meats by themselves but the meats mixed with vegetables. Has anyone smelled those meats by themselves? I wouldn't eat that either! It smells like dog food. I've tried to start feeding them more and more off of the table but attempts so far have ended up with us mopping the floor at restaurants. We have introduced the little Gerber puffs - I can't believe I don't have pictures of that yet. It sticks to their teeth and looks like Bubba teeth - hilarious! But, they are learning to grab and sometimes they even put one in their mouth. Why do they put anything and everything in their mouth except for food?
Still no teeth for Morgan but Kennedy has a full tooth showing on the bottom and is working on a second! Tried to get pics to no avail.
MM with her new toy and usual expression
K loves her duck "Bill" that Mrs. Ann gave her for Easter. She hugs and squeezes its face each night before bed. MM loves the Barbie horse - she crawls straight for it after her bath each night. Their Daddy makes play time fun with all these animals - he sure keeps me entertained!

Read and Share Toddler Bible

Read and Share Toddler Bible by Gwen Ellis, Illustrated by Steve Smallman
Summary:
This toddler "Bible" contains 40 stories plus a 60 minute DVD including bonus features just for toddlers. The Read and Share Toddler Bible introduces little ones ages one to four to God’s Word. Stories from both the Old and New Testaments include all-time favorites ranging from Creation, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, David, to Jesus’ birth, miracles, death, and resurrection. A bonus DVD includes stories and bonus features from the popular Read and ShareTM DVD Bible series. Each story is three minutes long to keep toddlers attention span engaged.
Review:
I really wish this book were titled Read and Share Toddle Bible STORIES. It is greatly paraphrased and isn't in fact scripture - but is scripturally based. Each story does have the reference to actual scripture at the top of its beginning page. I understand that it has been pared down for toddlers - just my personal peeve that these types of books are titled Bibles when they are, in fact, not really Bibles. They are Bible stories. The stories are appropriate in length and creatively use storytelling to keep a child's attention.
My favorite feature of the book is that each story has an insert for parents with ideas on how to drive the point home with your child through either a craft or activity. Some of us parents need creativity tips!
I was particularly excited about the bonus DVD. The animation is great and I love that I can sit my children down with a visual representation of the Bible. The only drawback is the narrator's voice is monotone and might not hold the interest of younger children.
