Wedding Weekend
Taylor's cousin and lifelong friend got married this weekend. We had a great time celebrating with family and friends. We love his new bride and think they make a wonderful couple. We wish them many years of happiness! It was a beautiful ceremony and a fun reception. We were totally impressed with the caterer - yum! Props to Storycook.
The girls spent the night at Nana and Papas and I think did pretty good. Hopefully Nana and Papa think the same! Here is the one pic we took at the reception - it's us with the groom.

Dog and Feet
With my luck the girl's first word will be DOG! They have really become aware of him lately. MM likes to scream at him and then just laughs when he walks by. On the porch the other evening they took turns poking him in the eye, petting him (a.k.a pulling his hair), and letting him lick them. They loved it!
Kennedy has also discovered her feet. She loves to lay on her activity mat and play with the dangling toys with her feet. She is like a little rolly polly because she always has a hold of her feet.
MM has really discovered her voice and chats ALL day. She sounds like a hoot owl. She has also learned to growl and shrugs her shoulders up and then growls and screams - it's hilarious! I'm trying so hard to get it on video.

Memorial Day
We had a busy but great Memorial Day weekend. Saturday was Papa's birthday, a graduation brunch, and a wedding. The Higbees were also at Nana & Papa's for a high school reunion so we had a fun time all hanging out in the mild weather - swinging on the porch and chatting. Sunday we all went to church for a surprise award for Nana. She hates attention but it is much deserved as she has dedicated a lot of time, love, and prayer toward her church. We made a quick stop to see Mammaw and Pappaw Conerly, too. Yesterday we ventured out for a burger at Backyard Burger - traditional Memorial Day fare but without the cleanup! Then off for a Target shopping spree. This was Taylor's first extended stroller trip with the girls and I was anxious for them to behave so he would be encouraged about taking us shopping! They did great. MM socialized with everyone in Target and at one point had both of her feet propped up on the bar in front of her - chillin'! Unfortunately, our air conditioner went out last night! Thank goodness it was a cool night and we opened the windows and didn't burn up too much. Here are some random pics from the weekend - none which are really indicative of our activities.
This tiny bow on her head cracks me up - and she's none too happy about it either!

Checkup
Today the girl's had their 6 month checkup (even though they're only 5 1/2 months). It is amazing how much they are growing. LK is now 15 lbs. 12 oz. and 25.75 inches long. Wow! She is in the 50th percentile for preemies her age. Dr. Smith said she is the healthiest 6 month old she's seen today - Taylor thinks that is very impressive :) MM is still on the small side - she weighs 12 lbs. 2 oz. and is 23.25 inches long. She is only in the 5th percentile for preemies her age. Dr. Smith said she isn't concerned since her length and weight are proportional - she thinks she's just going to be a petite little thing. But, she wants to see her back in 6 weeks just make sure she's still gaining.
We've gotten the green light to start with some 2nd foods - much more interesting flavors! The girls did great with their shots - they only cried for a few seconds. Dr. Smith was impressed with how well they are sitting up. Kennedy is really just a few weeks away from sitting up by herself. MM is still a little wobbly but it won't be long for her either! She thinks MM's teeth will probably come before Kennedy's - her gums are starting to thin out. I'm ready! Poor things are so fussy with their teeth these days.
Overall - a great doctor visit! Thanks, Mrs. Ann, for coming by to visit us!

Yay Memories!
You know that commercial where Tyrannasauras Rex shows up at the little girl's birthday party instead of Barney and the Mom is like "Yay Memories!"? That's how my past few experiences with trying to drag the girls out have been. Yet today I braved taking the girls on their first marathon shopping trip since they are big enough to sit up in their stroller. They did amazing! Of course, I had a ton of help from Shera and Jonna - they made the day so enjoyable for me. That's the longest shopping trip I've been on in almost a year! Let's hope all the fun helps them sleep tonight :) Speaking of sleeping - they slept great last night! Kennedy ate at 4 and MM slept until 6! I guess they were as worn out from the week as I was.
Here are some pics of our outing. Look at the cute dresses DitDee bought them - they're designed by Kate Hudson so she knew they were a must-have for my girls!

Come Back Sleep!
Help! Sleep has left our house again. MM woke up at 12:30 last night and 2:15 the night before! Bless her heart - her teeth are bothering her - but I'm not conditioned for that anymore! She woke up Kennedy, too, somehow I got MM back down and Kennedy ended up in the bed with us all night. Sneaky girls. We've had to feed, rock, and soothe babies in the middle of the night this week. Please tell me we'll have a break in between cutting sets of teeth. Aunt Shera - I hope you're ready for the weekend! Taylor is leaving us for yet another guy's trip (cousin Michael is getting married) so Aunt Shera is coming to stay. Any tips for helping the girls sleep while teething?

Mother's Day Weekend
What a fabulous 1st Mother's Day! Lanie and Pop kept the girls Friday night and Taylor and I went to the MS Braves with some friends. It was nice to get out and to sleep in a little on Saturday morning. Saturday night was the annual Mother/Daughter banquet at Nana's church and we braved taking the girls. It started out pretty adventurous. Kennedy had a dirty diaper all up the back of her dress as soon as we walked in the door. MM can be a little hesitant to crowds and I think all the attention was a little too overwhelming for her. She screamed hysterically for the first 15 minutes or so but eventually fell asleep. After that things calmed down and they really did great for it to be bed time. Today we spent the day at Mammaw and Pappaw Conerly's and that is always fun! We got to play with our cousins and enjoy the good weather. I'm so lucky to have such great daughters. I love being their mother!

Home Sweet Home
It has been a LONG week! Everyone survived my trip to DC and I'm sure everyone is glad I'm home, too, so we can all get back in our normal routine. Last weekend Taylor was out of town and DitDee, Aunt Shera, Jonna and Andrew came to lend a hand and help entertain the girls. We had a great time! Sorry I've been such a posting slacker - things are just really busy these days.
MM is really developing a personality these days. She has a very high pitched whine and squeal - I think she thinks that is talking. She also sticks her tongue out and blows and talks, too. It's hilarious - I'm really trying to capture it on video! It looks like she is going to be a little accident prone, too - or really Mommy is accident prone around her! In the past week I have bitten - yes really bitten - her finger and also rammed my tooth into her head! Poor baby. She is also really teething and wants to chew on everything! She is doing really great eating from a spoon and is really developing an appetite! Her favorites so far have been fruits but last night she ate an entire package of green beans.
K has rolled over! And we have actually seen her! It's so funny - she goes about it totally different than MM. She sticks her behind in the air until she is top heavy and falls over. MM arches her back until she rolls over. K is also talking up a storm! She has the sweetest coo. Her teeth are bothering her, too and none of us are ever lacking for drool. K is totally uninterested in the spoon and gets quite upset at us shoving spoon fulls of strange foods in her mouth. Just give her the bottle, please!
