Little Helpers

We are finally getting big enough to sit up in our Bumbo seats.
Here is a picture of us sitting in our Bumbos while we help Mom make dinner. Can't wait until we can eat some of that good food instead of just milk!

You Know You're a Mom...

You know you're a Mom when:

...showering is optional because there just isn't time!
...you have to use Psssst! on your hair to go to work!
...you wear accessories such as scarves to mask the spit up that lands on your black shirt before work!

Yes - all of these are true about me today! I did survive my first trip out of town last week and more importantly Taylor survived (with help from Lanie, of course!). We had a great weekend. We even managed to double date to the movies with Clare and Aaron. Well - I went on a date with Clare to Shopaholic and Taylor went on a date with Aaron to Friday the 13th. ha! Sunday we got to go visit Aunt Teri and Uncle Johnny's new house and visit with family. The house is gorgeous and everyone enjoyed holding the girls. They were on their best behavior! Here are some pics from the day.

4 Generations! Taylor, Mammaw Conerly, Lanie, MM & K
Cousin Shelbi (notice the girls "tights" are more like pants!)

Things You May Not Know

I see these postings all the time where people post random things about themselves. I thought I'd do it for the girls so you could know a little more about them. So here are some random things you may not know about Mary Morgan and Kennedy right now!

1. Kennedy has what is called a strawberry which is a vascular birthmark on the top of her head - right in the middle of her soft spot - and also on her booty and one on her chest. The doctor says they'll go away by the time she is in kindergarten.

2. MM can stand up! Seriously - you can just hold her under one arm pit and the child can stand up. If she had just a little more body control I swear she'd be on her way to walking at 2 months!

3. Kennedy loves motion. The vibrating bouncy seat, the swing, being carried - it doesn't matter - just keep it moving!

4. We ride great in the car which is a huge blessing since I have a 45 minute commute to work everyday!

5. Both girls are smiling a lot and both are cooing and interacting with us a lot. Kennedy is definitely more vocal but MM moves her mouth a lot even though sound doesn't always come out.

6. We have very different personalities. Kennedy is more outspoken and has a shorter fuse while MM is slow to anger and is happy to go unnoticed unless she's pretty upset about something.

7. We love ceiling fans!

8. We are a big fan of the passy! Daddy has even done pretty good teaching us how to hold it in when he lays us down.

9. MM has rolled over from her tummy to her back 4 or 5 times already. She loves tummy time!

10. Kennedy has the longest eyelashes I've ever seen!

11. Kennedy loves music. Her eyes immediately pop open if she's swinging and the music cuts off.

12. We do great sleeping so far. Right now we sleep in a pack-n-play with twin bassinet ts in Mom & Dad's room - but soon we are going to transition to our cribs in our room.

13. Kennedy has a very loud shriek! The girl can crack glass if she's mad enough. We usually hear this cry during a diaper change or after she gets out of the bath.

14. We like bath time - we just HATE getting out! We can only use Dove soap, Dreft, and Bounce Free because otherwise we break out in a horrible rash.

15. We eat about 4 oz. at each feeding. Sometimes Kennedy can knock back 5 oz. but mostly it's 4 oz. meal. We eat 6 times a day. We go to bed about 9:30 or 10 pm and get up at 5 am.

16. We LOVE to snuggle!

17. Kennedy is finally growing into 0-3 month size clothes but MM is still wearing Newborn outfits. We're petite little girls!

18. MM chuckles out loud in her sleep.

19. Kennedy grunts like a billy goat or horse - a lot!
20. We are loved by a very large family and spoiled rotten! But I'm pretty sure everyone knew that one already :)

Daddy's Valentines

These Valentines have certainly captured our hearts this year! We took the girls to the Alumni House to watch MS State basketball for our Valentine's dinner this year. Oh how times have changed - ha! It was very romantic in its own way, though. We finally made our debut back at our home church today and it felt great to be back in service and worshipping. Everyone was very excited to see the new additions to the congregation. The girls were very well behaved although we gave up our third row pew and sat in the back just to be safe! Tomorrow is a holiday and I look forward to being able to sleep a little late and to having an extra day with my family. This week will be my first trip back to DC so please pray for Taylor! I'll only be gone for one night and he has Lanie to rescue him - but I know he's still nervous. According to the sleep book this is supposed to the fussiest week!!

Sunday's Best

Here are a few pictures from our first trip to church at Nana and Papa's church last Sunday. We had a great time listening to the singing and getting to meet everyone!

Back to Work

Today is my first day back at work. It is so comforting knowing that my angels are in good hands with my parents. I know it will be hard to be away from them so much but it is good to have a little independence for all of us. So - I'm officially back in the land of the living! The morning went surprisingly well getting the girls and myself ready. Kids really do change things - I was at work earlier than I ever have been!

We had a good weekend at Nana and Papa's since Taylor was out of town quail hunting with friends. We spent the day in Natchez at the Kelly's Kids warehouse sale. I got $900 worth of clothes for $200! It was a beautiful day and we got to have our first stroller outing. The girls were extremely well behaved but the long car ride and being away from home was taxing on us all. We also had our first church trip - I'll post pics soon. The girls were adorable in their dresses!

Caught on Tape

Finally got Morgan rolling over on tape! I taped Kennedy right after and couldn't figure out how to separate the two...

Fun Pics

Here are a few of the recent pics that I've taken lately...

We got a good chuckle out of playing with these today.
Precious MM
Sisters napping head to head

Kennedy LOVES this swing that my co-worker gave us!

Kennedy is a big girl in her Bumbo!

Lanie coming to the rescue like she does every evening! She'll probably kill me for posting this picture :)

This was hilarious - MM scooted out of her pants trying to get close to her sister!

Everyone's best friend - the passy!

Prescription Scare

I mentioned earlier that the doctor had prescribed some Levsin for the girl's gas.which is a sort of muscle relaxer for their gut. We've been using it for a couple of days - mostly at night with the evening colic. The first night we noticed that there was a discrepancy from the dosage printed on the bottle and the insert that came with the medicine. Well - thank goodness for attentive grandmothers! Lanie noticed that the girls were having dry mouth and that MM was having trouble taking her bottle after she had the medicine so she called and had the pharmacy (Walgreens) pull the hard copy of the prescription. Thank goodness! The doctor prescribed 1 to 2 DROPS of medicine and the pharmacy printed 1 to 2 DROPPERS FULL of medicine! No wonder they've been sleeping so well at night!! Thank God Lanie caught this before something happened to one of them. This is the second time they have screwed a prescription for us - not long ago they gave Taylor a prescription with another man's name on it!

Carrie - if you're reading this I need advice on what steps I should take - besides transferring pharmacies!
