Sleep!

The girls have been sleeping great! We feed them around 9 or 10 and they have been sleeping until 3 or 4 which is as long as Dr. Smith said we should let them go anyway. It has been really nice to get 4 or 5 hours of consecutive sleep. The Levsin seems to be working wonders for the tummy, also, so things are really smoothing out for us. We also switched to Enfamil AR to help with the spitting up for when we are supplementing with formula. It has really made a huge difference. We still have episodes of projectile spitup - but they seem to be less often.

The girls made their debut at Taylor's grandmother's today - finally! It was so nice to get to show the girls off and have them meet all of their family. We are really looking forward to rejoining the world and normal life! Here are just a few recent pics...

2 Month Visit and Proud Parents

I know that all parents are proud of their children and think that they are advanced - so why should we be the exception? So - let me brag on my girls for a minute. On Sunday Mary Morgan rolled over!! She rolled from her tummy to her back all by herself! Did I mention that she's only 6 weeks old? And Kennedy is doing such a great job holding her head up that we tested out the Bumbo seat this week. She's not quite ready for it yet - but she has amazing control to be so young! See - I told you they were advanced ;)

Today was their 2 month well baby visit at the pediatrician. MM weighs 6 lbs 13 oz. and LK weighs 8 lbs 4 oz. They are growing so fast! We got the go ahead to start getting the girls out a little more in about a week if we still use caution to keep them away from sick children. She said when they get closer to 3 months old we can be more liberal about taking them to public places. Yay!

She confirmed that Kennedy has cebera (sp?) which is the same thing that causes cradle cap. Basically it's a rash that is aggravated by fragrances and the winter weather doesn't help much. She advised us to get some hydrocortisone for it and to stay away from the soap on her face. She also told us we could give her a little prune juice for her belly and also gave us a prescription for Levsin in case that didn't totally do the trick. Poor baby has a tough time with her belly and hopefully this will make her in a much more pleasant mood.

We received our first round of shots today and both girls let out heartbreaking cries - well Kennedy started crying before she was even on the table and hers was more like a shriek! They are both sleeping hard right now trying to forget the traumatic afternoon. Tonight will be our first night to put the girls down and test how long they'll sleep. We've had to wake them every 3-4 hours because their birth weight started out so low - but now we can see if they'll sleep for a longer stretch. Wish us luck!

6 Weeks Old

This has been a big week for me - I managed to tackle taking care of the girls all by myself for two days this week! I know this doesn't sound like a huge deal - but trust me it is. The first day was pretty trying - Kennedy had a belly ache and didn't want to be put down from practically 1pm to 1am! When Taylor got home from work I had both of them in my lap. Try nursing an infant while another is screaming and wants to be in your lap, too! We survived, though! The next day went even better and I even managed to grab a quick shower and pick up the house a little. Those two days alone have sure made me appreciate all of the help I have received over the past 6 weeks. Having the extra hands and the TLC of family members has seriously preserved my sanity and well being! My parents, Taylor's Mom, and my sisters have been lifesavers throughout this process.

Poor Kennedy has broken out in a rash. I think it might be eczema and I'm hoping the doctor can give us a cream to help with it next week. It is pitiful! Her poor cheeks are bright red and her face is covered in small bumps - along with her chest. Poor baby!

My friend Jeanelle has posted all of the pics she took of the girls - love them! Go take a look.

Who Do We Look Like?

Thought it would be fun to post mine and Taylor's baby pictures since everyone has been trying to guess who the girls look like! Who do you think they look like?

Happy New Year!

So...it's 8 days into the new year and we're a little delayed with our well wishes. We're running on a different time table these days :) I can't believe how much life can change in a year. I remember New Year's Day last year is when we found out that our best friends would be introducing their little boy into the family and that started off 2008 with a concentration on baby! This past year the Lord has carried us through a lot. He strengthened our marriage and family in ways we never dreamed or imagined. We have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams and we're really looking forward to a great 2009!

I apologize for infrequent blogging...even though I am definitely getting into more of a routine my free time is usually spent sterilizing bottles, showering, or sleeping. The girls are doing so well. They have a little bit of reflux and belly aches. Our recent discovery is Little Tummies Gripe Water. It works like a dream for Kennedy's grumbling tummy! Thanks, Candi - picked up the tip from your blog. We are sleeping for 4 hours stretches at night now and 3 hours during the day. The girls are eating about 4 oz. at each feeding and they are really growing! They are waking up and spending more time alert now. They are so strong and do such a great job of holding their heads up. Kennedy makes the funniest billy goat noises that sometimes sound like an all out giggle and MM chuckles in her sleep. Their little personalities are really showing and they are definitely individuals. Kennedy is definitely more vocal and makes her presence known. She has a short fuse and doesn't like to wait in line. She is such a ham and is going to have a lot of personality! MM is slow to anger and usually her cries are more out of desperation than anger. You can tell she is going to be more laid back and is going to be a thinker. They are so much fun! Tuesday was my official due date - I'm so glad that I haven't been pregnant for the last 5 weeks. ha! I'll leave you with a few pics to show you how much they've changed.
