Read and Share Toddler Bible

Read and Share Toddler Bible by Gwen Ellis, Illustrated by Steve Smallman

Summary:

This toddler "Bible" contains 40 stories plus a 60 minute DVD including bonus features just for toddlers. The Read and Share Toddler Bible introduces little ones ages one to four to God’s Word. Stories from both the Old and New Testaments include all-time favorites ranging from Creation, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, David, to Jesus’ birth, miracles, death, and resurrection. A bonus DVD includes stories and bonus features from the popular Read and ShareTM DVD Bible series. Each story is three minutes long to keep toddlers attention span engaged.

Review:

I really wish this book were titled Read and Share Toddle Bible STORIES. It is greatly paraphrased and isn't in fact scripture - but is scripturally based. Each story does have the reference to actual scripture at the top of its beginning page. I understand that it has been pared down for toddlers - just my personal peeve that these types of books are titled Bibles when they are, in fact, not really Bibles. They are Bible stories. The stories are appropriate in length and creatively use storytelling to keep a child's attention.

My favorite feature of the book is that each story has an insert for parents with ideas on how to drive the point home with your child through either a craft or activity. Some of us parents need creativity tips!

I was particularly excited about the bonus DVD. The animation is great and I love that I can sit my children down with a visual representation of the Bible. The only drawback is the narrator's voice is monotone and might not hold the interest of younger children.
