Parade Disaster

I had grandeur visions for the weekend - the legendary Jackson St. Patty's Day Parade! Taylor and I have had so much fun doing this before - this year would just a slight adjustment, right? A new family of four leisurely strolling their newborns around enjoying the 70-degree weather and sunshine. It would be all smiles and memories, right? Ha ha! Life lesson #1. Not all 4-month olds like loud parades, crowds, and an environment that is more like an outdoor bar than a quiet nursery. Saturday, Taylor and I packed up the girls and loaded up our "land yacht" of a stroller as Taylor calls it. Don't get me wrong - love the stroller - but any stroller that can accomodate 2 infants can not be small in any way. We left early for the parade - parked outside of the parade perimeter because we are good, plan-ahead parents that know that we might have to leave early. We just didn't know how early. We hiked a good 30 minutes to meet up with friends - probably taking out 3 or 4 coolers or people on the way as we try to maneuver our stroller through the crowds. We finally meet up with our friends and say hello - show them the girl's cute outfits. Take MM out of the stroller and it was non-stop crying from that point forward. She was NOT happy! I think she was asleep when we left the house and woke up to a world of green people and loud music! So - we lasted about 10 minutes at the parade before we packed everything back up and pointed the land yacht back to the car. Fun! Oh well - at least we tried!
Both girls were happy as can be once we got back in the car and headed home. I really couldn't help but laugh. I'm sure it won't be the last time! Here are some pics from our other adventures this weekend.

Chilling out to Baby Einstein after the parade
Love this smile!
Sunday afternoons with family
We bought a walker this weekend because the girls are so good at standing. Her toes barely touch the ground but they love it!
Daddy to the rescue!

The girls were so cute yesterday in their little dresses. One of these days, my children are actually going to let me put them down long enough to hold yours for a minute. Of course, I'll have to fight off Lanie and Nellie first. :)

I had almost the same experience last weekend in Clarksdale. I quickly learned that babies don't like to be over stimulated!
